Why Choose American Health Imaging
When your doctor needs high-quality images of your back, knee or vital organs—such as your brain and liver—they may automatically refer you to the radiology department in the hospital where they practice. However, that is not your only option for diagnostic imaging services.
Selecting a provider for imaging needs is an important decision, so it’s crucial to know your options. American Health Imaging (AHI) offers a full scope of sophisticated radiology services that are typically less expensive than those offered at hospitals and hospital-owned facilities. AHI offers same day or next day appointments with results to your referring physician within 24 hours of your scan or exam.
High-Quality, Patient-Centered Imaging
Over time, imaging exams have advanced, improving overall patient experience and offering more options for care. Along with MRI and CT scans, AHI provides a wide range of imaging services, including:
- Arthrogram for orthopedic conditions
- Accelerated Breast MRI screening
- Digital X-ray
- FibroScan for liver biopsies
- NeuroQuant for brain tissue
- Ultrasound and myelogram to investigate the back, spine and nervous system
AHI employs the industry’s latest technology in order to provide the highest standard of imaging services to the public. New tools such as the Siemens 64-slice CT system give our centers more opportunities to streamline CT scans and improve preventive care. Through this machine, AHI offers high-quality angiography exams, colon imaging, and lung cancer screening, as well as calcium scoring exams.
Clinicians in need of information about your muscles, organs, and other soft tissues may order MRI imaging to make an accurate diagnosis. The images they will receive from AHI may be captured using a wide array of specialized MRI machines.
Our Advanced Open MRI can offer peace of mind for claustrophobic patients who do not like enclosed spaces. Other options include Stand-up MRI and open wide-bore MRI to accommodate a variety of patient needs. When you are injured or hurting, it can be painful to lie flat on your back or hold still in certain positions. At AHI, we prioritize your comfort. If your back, neck, shoulder, elbow or hips need to be at a particular angle, our machines allow for a wide range of body positioning, so you feel relaxed during your scan.
Rapid, Accurate Results
New technology allows imaging centers like AHI to reduce scan times and get your results faster. Certain workflows have become automated and new mobile capabilities expand the way technologists can capture your images and radiologists will analyze and interpret your results.
For example, a CT scan is a helpful tool to examine muscles, organs and tumors. If you have an abdominal injury, blood clot or fracture, your doctor may order a CT scan. AHI can typically complete this test in 15 to 30 minutes. MRI procedures at AHI can take as little as 15 minutes or up to an hour, depending on your doctor’s specific orders.
After a scan at AHI, the results will be sent to your doctor in 24 hours. You will receive a CD with your images. Along with your CD, a report from a radiologist (a physician specially trained in medical imaging) reviews your medical history and analyzes your diagnostic imaging. Next, the radiologist writes a report detailing the finding and impression of the diagnostic imaging exam.
Accessible and Easy Access
Another benefit of choosing AHI for diagnostic imaging services is that we make it simple to schedule, check-in to appointments (no need to hover around a crowded administration desk), verify benefits, and get your results. Plus, unlike hospitals, you walk out with your images on a CD, meaning they belong to you.
At AHI, it’s easy to know what to expect when coming in for an appointment by providing FAQs about our services and guidance on how to prepare for your visit.
With 34 locations across four states, you can find AHI facilities near your neighborhood or work. We provide no-fee, accessible parking, no complex parking decks or shuttle buses to worry about, meaning you can access our imaging services without having to walk long distances on hospital campuses.
Smart Solutions for Your Imaging Needs
If you find yourself in the emergency room for a critical condition that needs immediate treatment, staying in the hospital for imaging services such as a CT (computed tomography) scan or an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) may be the best choice. However, if you need a scan for a condition such as kidney stones or low back pain, or if your condition can be treated in an outpatient setting, AHI is a great option to explore.
“If your doctor gives you an order form for an outpatient imaging service, don’t be afraid to shop around for an option that best meets your needs,” says Sudhir Padhye, Diagnostic Imaging Specialist at our location in Decatur, Georgia. “You have a choice about how you spend your healthcare dollars. In the age of high-deductible insurance plans and astronomical imaging prices, AHI is a welcome alternative for many people. At AHI you can expect to save money on the quality scans you need.”
American Health Imaging strives to provide the highest level of service to our customers, healthcare providers, and referring clinics. The exceptional care you receive from our professional staff, imaging technologists, and radiologists ensures the most accurate and timely results.
